"Lived Experience. Proven Advocacy."
M.Johnson | Founder & Executive Director
M.Johnson is a visionary leader and advocate dedicated to transforming the re-entry experience for Detroit’s veterans and returning citizens. As a woman who has personally navigated the complexities of the justice system, she possesses a firsthand understanding of the "Stability Gap"—that critical period following release where a lack of immediate support often leads to recidivism.
Driven by her own journey, she founded the Hands of Freedom Project L3C (HOF Project) to provide the specialized advocacy and dignity-first resources she saw were missing from the system. Operating from Suite 202 at the historic Hunt Street Station, she focuses on lowering re-incarceration rates by bridging the gap between release and long-term stability. M.Johnson’s unique perspective ensures that the HOF Project is more than a program; it is a lifeline built by someone who truly understands the mission to bring our people all the way home.
